The deposition was taken when Bright was an expert witness for the Burroughs Corporation in the legal action of South Jersey Wallpaper Co. v. Burroughs Corporation. Bright began working with computers in the 1950s while chief of the laboratory instrumentation branch at the Radiological Defense Laboratory. He later worked at the Westinghouse Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, the Office Equipment Manufacturers Institute, the computer and electronics division of Philco Corporation, and Informatics, Inc., before founding Computation Planning, Inc.
